I build custom member intake forms 📝

I show how I can create custom intake form fields for members, and these will appear for both new members and existing members who haven’t filled them out yet. I go into my store settings, create a “website” field, choose a text input type, add URL validation, and mark it as required. I explain that making it required also prompts existing members to complete any new required fields.

So this week, I wanna show you how you can create custom member intake forms for your new members. Now, these forms will appear for existing members as well, if they haven't filled in these details before, and obviously for new members who have joined your space, either through a direct space invite link or through your store. So let me show you how you go about doing this. I'm gonna come into my store settings here and go create the first field. I'm gonna just call this website, and that's gonna be the field name. And I'll make the the label text for the field website as well. And here you can select your field type, whether it's text input, text area, drop-down, etc. I'm gonna make this a text input. I'm gonna make the validation a URL to make sure that they enter valid URLs and I'm gonna make this field required. And when you make this required, it means that your existing members will have to fill this field in too. So they'll be prompted to fill in any new fields that aren't filled in yet, and that are required. Something that required. And then you can set this to be displayed on their public profile page, uh, either true or false, on or off. If it's set to on, then this field value will be displayed whenever you view that member's profile. So I'll make this a public field and add that, and I'll do one more custom field here, which is their role, and I'll make this one a drop-down. And I can say here, you know, marketer, creator, coach, whatever it is, and the label would be, uh, enter your role, OK. And again, I'll make that required, and I'll make this role then visible on their public profile page. I can also reorder these fields if I like, put roll on top, website second. I can then preview the intake form. This is what they'll see when they access your space. Uh, this will pop up for them. I'm gonna close that preview and save that. And I'm gonna show you what that looks like from the member's perspective. OK, so here I am in this space, and it's prompted me to complete my profile. Its role, I'll just say creator and website. I'll put in um swarm's website, OK? And I can now save that to the profile. And obviously this is gonna be shown to every member who hasn't done this yet. Save profile. If I now go and view the profile, so from there, I can now see that those fields are now visible on the profile. Now, if I were to want to, if I was the um the owner of this store, and I wanna see all the fields that have been submitted by all my users, um, let's say I want to kind of download the data, have a look at that. I can then go back to my store, I go back to my customers screen, and then from the view details menu. There's now an intake details section. So this particular user or member hasn't filled in their role. I'm just gonna set their role for them to make it marketer, and the website will make it the same thing. I can now manually set their details, if I like, if I know the details. Uh, but obviously in the future, it'll prompt them anyway to fill in the details themselves. So I'll update that there. And this is where you can see all of your intake details, even if it's a private field and isn't visible on the profile. Um, so that's how you set up member intake forms. Cheers.
